What is the Culture of Tacoma?

Discover Tacoma: A City on the Rise

Tacoma has experienced its share of ups and downs, but recent years have brought a transformative wave of change to this vibrant city. With a rapidly evolving skyline, a thriving arts economy, and housing options that are significantly more affordable than Seattle and Bellevue, Tacoma is becoming an increasingly attractive place to live.

Tacoma's Appeal

  • Affordable Living: Homes in Tacoma cost roughly half of what you'd pay in Seattle, and the savings are even greater compared to Bellevue. This affordability is drawing more and more people to the city.

  • Cultural Renaissance: Tacoma boasts a burgeoning arts scene, with galleries, theaters, and music venues adding to the city's dynamic cultural landscape.

  • Economic Growth: The city's economy is growing, driven by new businesses and investment in infrastructure.

  • Convenient Commute: Tacoma is located just 34 miles south of Seattle and 40 miles southwest of Bellevue. The Sounder commuter train offers direct service to Seattle, and there are also express buses, making commuting to and from Tacoma convenient and efficient.

Population Growth

To capture the city's growth, we’ve implemented a daily population tracker. Based on data from the United States Census, World Population Review, and the Washington Office of Financial Management, Tacoma adds about 674 people every three months. Notably, this number slightly increases each quarter over the course of a year, reflecting the steady and consistent growth of the city. From January 2023 to January 2024, Tacoma's population grew by 2,700 people.

This steady increase reflects Tacoma's rising appeal as a desirable place to live, work, and play. Understand that the population figure is an estimate based off of past and present growth trends.
